About Denise Gracias & Joyful Art
Denise began to create joyful art early in her life. Crayons in hand, she drew animals, people, trees, flowers, and especially loved drawing stories from the Bible. She was surprised when teachers asked who taught her to draw, or if she practised a lot at home. She won prizes, received commissions from classmates (charging just a dime per piece). She was chosen to paint murals for a school plays. However, it was only when teachers encouraged her to become an artist that she realized this was "a gift" from God.
Gallery
I am inspired to bring to life the struggles, doubts, the hopes, and joys experienced by real people no different than us.
Nature can be a sacred space where you can find God.
I have been fascinated by the human face since I was child. I have included paintings of portraits as well as figurative paintings.
These are experiments in painting, works that may progress into a series or may remain a “one of a kind” never to be done again.

Denise is interested in working with you to create a piece of art that will bring joy to your surroundings.
"That is why artists, the more conscious they are of their “gift”, are led all the more to see themselves and the whole of creation with eyes able to contemplate and give thanks, and to raise to God a hymn of praise. This is the only way for them to come to a full understanding of themselves, their vocation and their mission."
St. John Paul II
"Those who perceive in themselves this kind of divine spark which is the artistic vocation—as poet, writer, sculptor, architect, musician, actor and so on—feel at the same time the obligation not to waste this talent but to develop it, in order to put it at the service of their neighbour and of humanity as a whole."

"This is your task. Humanity in every age, and even today, looks to works of art to shed light upon its path and its destiny."
St. John Paul II
"Not all are called to be artists in the specific sense of the term. Yet, as Genesis has it, all men and women are entrusted with the task of crafting their own life: in a certain sense, they are to make of it a work of art, a masterpiece."
St. John Paul II
