He Leads Me to Still Waters
2017 -Acrylic- 20" x 20"x 1.5"
It had been a long day on the Camino to Santiago de Compostela (Walk of the Saint). It was midday and for some reason, the more I walked, the farther the destination. There were no trees to give shade and I was in need of some consolation from tiredness and heat. As the path unfolded before me, a gentle stream joined alongside me, giving me respite by just looking at it. As it turned to go in another direction, I was so grateful for the relief it gave me.
This painting captures the gentleness of the stream in the midst of lush green grass swaying in the wind. Even though I never touched the water and did not stop walking, it provided me with refreshment and rest.
